Jakub Drzastwa

Organizer of cultural activities, theater pedagogue, coordinator of cultural and theatrical projects, scenography designer and music composer. He studied at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Faculty of History (graduated in 2013) and postgraduate studies at School of Form in Poznań’s Design Management department (graduated in 2015).

In 2010-2015 he worked in Instytut Teatralny im. Zbigniewa Raszewskiego in Warsaw, where he coordinated five editions of International Contest at Wystawienie Polskiej Sztuki Współczesnej, produced Nówka Sztuka festival (in 2012-2014) and contributed to a lot of other projects: Świąteczny Frymark Teatralny, Warszawskie Spotkania Teatralne, Niech szyje teatr, Dzień Dziecka w Kancelarii Premiera. In 2011-2012 he was an author of Klub Festiwalowy’s Warszawskie Spotkania Teatralne programme in Café Kulturalna.

Since 2012 a member of Theatre Pedagogues Association, with whom he co-creates (as well as with Sztuka Nowa Association) space for theatrical education LUB/LAB (Lubelska 30-32 Street) in Warsaw. As part of Theatre Pedagouges Association’s actions, he realized a lot of projects, such as Teatralne Spięcie, Forum pedagogów teatru, Arts education conference EduAkcja, Teatranki. As part of the project organized by Instytut Teatralny – Teatranki – Laboratorium Przestrzeni – he hosted a series of workshops on creative building of space for theatrical actions.

Designer of scenography and costumes for spectacles: Tu bi-szwat (POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Teatr 21, directed by Justyna Sobczyk), Ciało pedagogiczne (directed by Justyna Sobczyk), Krystyna Miłobędzka’s Ojczyzna in Teatr Polski Poznań (directed by Justyna Sobczyk). Author of scenography object (Tęczowa kominiarka) as part of Project Object at Prague’s 13th Quadriennale.

Creator of To też robot brand, for which he design and makes bags. In 2015 he worked with Teatr Powszechny im. Zbigniewa Hubnera in Warsaw, where he co-hosted creative sewing workshops Torba powszechna. During a few editions of Warszawskie Spotkania Teatralne he designed and made bags out of banners that became official gadgets of the festival.

As a musician he takes part in spectacles: Ja jestem ja directed by Justyna Sobczyk (African drums) and Labirynt directed by Alicja Morawska-Rubczak (drums, drum tank). He’s a creator of the space-sound installations, which are a part of Akcja Labirynt organized by “Muzyka jest dla wszystkich” Foundation.
